OK……I know.  I’m a terrible blogger.  Life has just gotten the better of me lately.  Thought I would catch you up to speed…..hang on!

Did some headshots….

Meet Kandi Mullen, owner of Reiki 4 Well Being. Reiki is an ancient hands-on healing art that balances the mind, body and spirit. Kandi teaches techniques that help to quiet the mind and heal the body through classes and workshops.

Meet Kelly Andrews, owner of Crescendo Communications.  Crescendo Communications is a PR/marketing firm that offers small- and medium-sizes businesses a range of services, such as media relations, social media, event planning, speech writing and more.  She is a PR/marketing machine people…..call her.

Meet Karen Steadman and Dirk Baxter of Leadership Futures.  Leadership Futures ensures the best leaders make the impact they can and are expected to make.  They work with companies all over the globe to develop leaders to meet their highest potential.

Meet my dear friend Renee…nurse, singer, and one of the best souls on the planet.  We love you girl.

While we were doing headshots we sold a condo……

Bought a house….

Moved (there are no pictures of the moving……it wasn’t pretty).

Did a maternity session with an absolutely gorgeous mother and daughter and caught this precious little moment….

My sweet pooch Frei (pronounced like a french fry) was featured in Atlanta magazine as “Pet of the Month” for their February issue…isn’t he adorable???

Had a great South Atlanta Flickr (SAF) Administrator shoot with my buddies down south of town.  We had the great opportunity to photograph artist Kawai Laurencin.  I literally had to pause for a moment during this shoot to just pick my jaw up off the ground…his talent is just beyond belief and he couldn’t be a more warm natured soul.

Did a group shoot with South Atlanta Flickr

I also became volunteer coordinator for Atlanta Photography Exhibit….get involved and check us out!  We have several exhibits and fun events coming up this year.  Check out the calendar at the website here and send me an email at meg@futurephotogs.org if you are interested in volunteering!

And now……a moment to recover!

I honestly don’t even know where to start…. I’ve never been so giddy to get up at 6:00am and work for 13 straight hours IN MY LIFE.  I’ve had the most amazing last two days schlepping gear, adjusting lights, exploring down dark and dusty spider web infested hallways, watching, and learning from someone I consider one of the best in the business.   Thanks so much to Zack Arias, Meghan Arias, and Used Film for including me in this shoot and for being the generous, humble, well natured people you are.   You also happen to be a heck of a lot of fun to hang out with.

For you photography lovers out there……you are just going to DIE when you see his images from the last few days!  Congratulations to Zack for taking some “personal time” and keeping the creativity alive.

P.S.- I know……this is the first EVER post without a picture, but this was all about Zack’s vision….keep an eye on his blog and you are bound to see some images pop up over the course of the next several months.

P.S.S.- Thank you to the creators of Diet Coke for providing enough caffeine to keep me going throughout the last couple of days as well……I think I have a 12 pack per day habit now.

About a month or so ago I met fellow photographer Steven Skelton at a mixer at Zack Arias‘s studio.  Since meeting we have kept in touch, chatted on Facebook, followed each other’s work, and now have had the chance to shoot together!  Steven put together a strobist group in Athens, Georgia (Go Dawgs) and they had their first meeting at the Oneta Building on the outskirts of town.  Strobist style shooting just basically means shooting with off camera flash and can give you some really cool effects.  Most of these shots were done with my 580EXII flash and a 60 inch umbrella to soften the light.

Thanks so much to my dear friend Renee for joining us as a model……she was a total trooper.  She’s probably feeling like she has whiplash from a car crash after we made her flip her hair over about 15 times to get this shot…….

I have so much fun shooting with this group.  For those of you in the Atlanta area it is well worth the drive to shoot with the South Atlanta Flickr group.  Props to Julie Harnage and Jason Morrison for always organizing professional models and fantastic make up artists to make the shoot extra special.

This is the second time I’ve had the opportunity to work with Reggie Carson (aka the Stylistocrat).   Stylistocrat by R&R is a lifestyle men’s clothing brand that specializes in showing Gentlemen the proper ways to dress. Thought some of you might enjoy a video that a friend and fellow photog sent out today.  Jason Morrison, otherwise know to me as “Dubtastic” posted this video he created today to Facebook.  Jason is a fantastic photographer and all around great guy.  He has been active in photography for about 5 years, mixing in his background and professional experience as a graphic designer.  His post production skills are I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E.  I was lucky to meet Jason at a South Atlanta Flickr meeting at Nash Farm Battlefield earlier this year.  The video and shoot was all done in and around Studio 42 in Locust Grove, Georgia.  I can’t recommend this studio enough.  I was out there last weekend for a shoot and had a great experience. I love having a studio that you can shoot in and then walk outside to some other interesting locations!  Enjoy the movie!

Ahhh……the wide open spaces of South Atlanta Flickr.  The talented Jason Morrison and Julie Harnage were nice enough to put together a fabulous afternoon for their photography friends and models.  With the use of three different studio setups and a little walk around the square in Locust Grove we were able get a great variety of shots.  This was a great experience (even though I was exhausted from yard work all morning) and  look forward to the next shoot (without the morning of yard work before the shoot).  : )

I’ve been wanting now for several months to get to the “Prison Farm” in East Atlanta.  After several email exchanges with Flickr friends we got a group organized to go and were blocked by city employees at the entrance.  However, we found a great alternative.  This is an old abandoned bank in the same part of town.  Enjoy the pictures of Reggie, Aglae, and my Flickr friends.  The first picture was taken with my camera, so I had to improvise to look like a photographer (that’s me in the bottom right corner)!
