I have always wanted to shoot at Sope Creek and was so excited to take my good friends Lisa and Mark Heiman there for a family portrait session. Their son Wyatt had a blast playing in the leaves!

The mill ruins make such a gorgeous backdrop for family portraits and add great texture!

I spent some time a few weeks ago with some musician friends during one of their recording sessions.  I’d met Leah a couple of times before through some close friends of ours, Cameron & Russell Cook of Little Country Giants after we asked them to play at our wedding. We asked if they could find someone to play violin in the wedding band and they, naturally, chose to have their friend Leah Calvert sit in with them.  Leah is an accomplished musician well known throughout the Atlanta music scene for not only her voice, but her skills on the violin.  We’ve seen her play several times with the Dappled Grays and they are incredible.  Best of luck to this talented lady in her latest endeavors!

Take 2…

Hello world!  I feel the need to reintroduce myself.  I’m Megan.  Wife.  Photographer.  Friend.  Sister.  Daughter.  And now…..mother of twins.   Notice there has been a looonnnnggggg stretch of time between my last posting and this one.  These last couple of years have been a doozie….fertility treatments, followed by back surgery for a herniated disc, followed by more fertility treatments, pregnancy with twins, and then the birth of said twins can keep a girl busy, ya know?  That being said, I’m finally getting into a rhythm over here.  The twins, Coda Belle (Cody) and Avett have just had their first birthday and are so much fun.  However, I have really been missing my creative outlet.  Photography was something that was just mine.  Something that only I can do the way I do it.  I’m so ready to be back in the photography world!  I already have a few things lined up to get my feet wet, but am looking forward to more.  Call me at 404-422-7829 or email me at megan@megancase.com to set up a session soon!  And now…..gratuitous pictures of my gorgeous children.  : )

Matt and Kelly are good friends that needed some up to date pictures to put around the house.  They are a classic case of why you shouldn’t cut your budget on your wedding photographer….they were so unhappy with the photographer they used for their wedding that they really didn’t want to use any of their wedding photos around the house.  Their wedding pictures lacked any creativity, and most importantly, knowledge of lighting and the basics of proper exposure.  It’s so sad for me to think of not having photographic documentation of one of the biggest days of your life!  So, two years after they got married…they had their “engagement-ish” photo session!

Kelly really wanted some different types of processing on their photos, so I worked with them quite a bit to give her some different processing options.

Thanks for such a fun session Matt and Kelly.  Looking forward to some baby photos when baby Delaney arrives!

A while ago I got a call from good friend and previous client, Kandi Mullen at Reiki 4 WellBeing.  Kandi is a reiki master and runs a reiki studio in midtown Atlanta.  In February’s issue of  Simply Buckhead, Kandi is being featured in an article regarding alternative forms of therapy.  If you would like to read the article click HERE and see page 42.

Curious about Reiki?  I was!  So, I went to see Kandi at Reiki 4 WellBeing and had a session.  You know that deep relaxation you get at the end of a good massage?  When you just wish you could stay on the table and take a nap for the next few hours?  Bingo.

I talked to Kandi quite a bit about her practice and must say it’s quite intriguing.  She told me that reiki promotes deep relaxation and restores physical, emotional, spiritual and mental imbalances to enhance the body’s natural healing response to maintain optimal health and well-being. She also told me that reiki works on all levels; it focuses on the whole body and promotes balance in mind, body and spirit, similar to yoga and meditation. A Reiki treatment can also help to relieve physical and emotional pain and improve sleep and fatigue. To learn more about Reiki or to schedule a Reiki treatment visit www.reiki4wellbeing.com.

I was so excited to meet with my friend Lyle and his family for a winter portrait session.  And when I say winter….I mean winter….it was sleeting during most of our session!

I met Lyle a while ago when looking for a landscape designer and installer after we purchased our home last year.  He owns a company called Southern Trillium based here in Atlanta and does AMAZING work.  Southern Trillium specializes in residential landscapes, including stonework, pavers, retaining walls, rain harvesting, ponds, streams and waterfalls, all types of plant installation, custom wood gates, fences, and garden structures.  If you need any help making your yard into your sanctuary give him a call!  Lyle and his crew will help design and install your project to make sure that no detail is overlooked.  If you would like to view some photos of their work you can see it HERE.

Many thanks to Lyle and Hannah (and Hannah’s aunt who had warm homemade blueberry muffins when we arrived to begin our session).  : )

Hannah and Lyle both have incredible blue eyes…

Hannah…..you are FIERCE in this picture girl!

I love this shot.  It’s just so natural and relaxed.

OK ladies…..I know you are all jealous.  This my husband playing uber photo assistant.  Yes, he is in the sleet, waving around a stuffed animal to get the baby’s attention (Lyle’s niece), while wearing a quilt, and did I mention in the sleet???  I love you Rob!

A fun casual shot of Lyle (we were hiding from the sleet under the pavilion and saw this truck).  I love this truck!

Lyle’s sweet little niece.  What a precious little girl…

Thanks for a fantastic session Hannah and Lyle.  I hope to work with you again in the future!

Be prepared for cuteness overload.  Meet my youngest clients Alden and Harper!

Sweet little Alden…

and cutie pie Harper….

Both Alden AND Haper discovered that they have tongues during our photoshoot!  It was hysterical looking through my images from this shoot.  In about 80% of their images they had their tongues sticking out!

So…..I took lots of pictures of baby toes!  My favorite!

Big sister took a moment to have a few pictures taken as well…

Even the dogs joined in on the fun!

Thanks so much to my wonderful clients for this sweet little family shoot!

A couple of weeks ago I had the distinct pleasure of photographing my neighbor’s sons second birthday party.  They were total party animals!

Can you BELIEVE this cake???  The best part is that it was as delicious as it is beautiful.  It was seriously a work of art.  Three layers of heaven…..The cake was from Matty Cakes here in Atlanta, GA if you have a special occasion coming up!  Heck……even if you don’t have a special occaision……..one of these cakes needs to be on your bucket list!

Plenty of gifts for the birthday boy!

A little refresher for all the parents….

Along with a little Fox Brothers Barbeque…..yummmmmmmmmm

Margaritas, Fox Brothers BBQ, AND face painting?  They pulled out all the stops!  I think the birthday boy had a great time!

And now…..cake time!

Thanks so much for letting me be a part of your special celebration Cole!  In closing a pic of my favorite little decorations….

I honestly don’t even know where to start…. I’ve never been so giddy to get up at 6:00am and work for 13 straight hours IN MY LIFE.  I’ve had the most amazing last two days schlepping gear, adjusting lights, exploring down dark and dusty spider web infested hallways, watching, and learning from someone I consider one of the best in the business.   Thanks so much to Zack Arias, Meghan Arias, and Used Film for including me in this shoot and for being the generous, humble, well natured people you are.   You also happen to be a heck of a lot of fun to hang out with.

For you photography lovers out there……you are just going to DIE when you see his images from the last few days!  Congratulations to Zack for taking some “personal time” and keeping the creativity alive.

P.S.- I know……this is the first EVER post without a picture, but this was all about Zack’s vision….keep an eye on his blog and you are bound to see some images pop up over the course of the next several months.

P.S.S.- Thank you to the creators of Diet Coke for providing enough caffeine to keep me going throughout the last couple of days as well……I think I have a 12 pack per day habit now.
