I am a music freak…..always have been….always will be.  My husband (Rob), however, takes being a music freak to new heights.  If he won the lottery I think he would travel the world to see all of his favorite musicians across the continents.  One of our favorite places to browse for tunes is Criminal Records in Little Five Points just up the street from us.  They send out an email newsletter that Rob reads religiously.  He’s always entering contests to win tickets from Criminal Records….and he wins them….A LOT!  A few months ago, I swear, there was like an 8 week stretch that our friend Lillian at Criminal Records was calling every Friday to tell Rob he had won yet another pair of tickets for a show.

Last Friday we got another call from Lillian and had won tickets to Eddie’s Attic.  Now, if you are a music fan, and have not been to Eddie’s then….well….you really aren’t a music fan.  Eddie’s has launched the careers of countless musicians….John Mayer, Shawn Mullins, Sugarland, etc.  The likes of  Indigo Girls, John Gorka, Sheryl Crow, Ani DiFranco, Brandi Carlile, The Black Crowes, Al Stewart, David Wilcox, Bill Mallonee, Kevn Kenny, Edwin McCain, Richard Shindell, Ellis Paul, Francine Reed, Patty Larkin, Malcomb Holcombe, Larry Jon Wilson, Eric Taylor, Glen Phillips, Dana Cooper, Billy Joe Shaver, Pierce Pettis, Kate Campbell, Cheryl Wheeler, Cliff Eberhardt, Vance Gilbert, Lowen & Navarro, India.Arie, Brian Vander Ark and Don Conoscenti have all played in Eddie’s quaint “listening room”.  Eddie’s is designed around the concept of actually coming to a concert to listen to the music……you will be publicly humiliated and scorned (well, not really) if you talk loudly or your cell phone rings during a live show here.  At Eddie’s you live by the mantra “Live Music Matters”.  I couldn’t agree more.

Anyhoo- So I’m at this concert last Friday night at Eddie’s enjoying my second glass of wine when my friend Andy walks in with the headliner, Sarah Peacock.  Sarah was notably bummed that the photograher that was supposed to be there to document their show at Eddie’s had not yet shown up.  Andy happened to hear her talking with someone outside about the situation and offered up my photographic services.  Seriously, I don’t know why I ever leave home without my camera.  I always find myself missing it when it’s not with me.  Sarah came in to explain the situation and a few minutes later my good buddy Renee was driving me home to pick up my camera and voila…..the images below were taken!  Sarah is on tour now, so be sure to check out her schedule here.  She has a stellar voice and a great raw earthy sound.

I’d also like to give a little shout out to The Duke and The King that opened for Sarah.  I don’t have any pics of them from the show, but they were incredible.  Can you say beautiful harmony?  Rob bought their CD and hasn’t stopped listening to it all week!

Have a great weekend everyone!

I honestly consider our meeting Matt and Kelly several months ago some sort of cosmic connection…..we’re having so much fun getting to know them and are having a great time tagging along to photograph the concerts Matt is reviewing for Hidden Track.  I went to see my first performance of Keller Williams at the Variety Playhouse this past Saturday night to take some shots to accompany Matt’s article.  Keller was incredible…….there are few things that actually make me remove myself from the camera while shooting and stop to say, “Wow”…….I did this several times throughout the evening.  I’ve never heard anyone wear out a guitar so beautifully in my life.  I highly suggest checking him out the next time he has a show near you!  Enjoy a few pictures from the show below and read Matt’s review in Hidden Track  here.

So, I’d like to start by saying what a trooper my friend Kelly was this weekend. I wanted to experiment with some flash techniques and she needed headshots, so we bartered. I’ll do headshots for you if you will be my “model” for my flash experiments. So, we met up with Deb (fellow friend and photographer) in Freedom Park, set up our gear, and proceeded to shoot. A few minutes into our shoot it started snowing…..poor Kelly. Here she is in a short dress, no coat, sitting on the ground, and being gorgeous… Rob stood in as our assistant (he’s so good to me) and neither of them complained once. For you northerner’s out there…..you have to look REALLY closely to see the flakes of snow….

After our shoot at the Park we met up with Kelly’s husband Matt. Matt writes an incredible music blog called Musical Stew Daily and also does some freelance writing for Hidden Track and Glide Magazine. On Saturday night Matt needed some photographs to accompany an article he was writing for Hidden Track covering the Perpetual Groove show at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. Look for Matt’s review here.  Below are a few images from the show.
